Time to Do the Right Thing

I had the unique opportunity to help someone who was in trouble today. But it was a sticky situation. This person used to be a very close friend, and over the past year, had quit speaking to me, believing I had intentionally wronged them. My experience of the events was of course, quite different.

Be Mindful, Not Careful

As I paid for my morning latte, the friendly woman behind the counter told me, “Be careful out there.” I smiled at her, thanked her for her kindness, but truthfully, I was a little surprised. I wasn’t anticipating any danger, and actually had a peaceful morning planned. It took me until I reached my car, but I thought of a response I wanted to share with the barista. I wanted to tell her I didn’t feel like I needed to be careful, but I would be sure to be mindful as I made my way out into the world.

Stop Using the Rewind Button and Visualize What You Want

When you start making changes in your life, whether the change is positive or negative, your subconscious kicks into survival mode and starts sending you little SOS messages.  It’s as if changing will create danger for you, and your subconscious is programmed to protect you, to help you survive.  You’ll likely feel resistance and begin to doubt yourself as you start doing things differently.

You Create Your Own Luck

When you take a gamble, you pray for good luck. You roll the dice, hoping for a big score, maybe you cross your fingers, you hold your breathe, and you wait to see what numbers come up. If you’re lucky, you get a reward. If you’re unlucky, you have to try again. Is life anything like gambling? Is there luck involved? Do you feel lucky or unlucky most of the time?
