How many times have you heard “Money is the root of all evil?” or something similar? Is it possible to want to make money, and still be a spiritual or enlightened individual?
Want Does not Equal Greed
It’s not money that is evil. In fact, I’ll go out on a limb and say that I don’t know if anything is truly evil, but that’s a conversation for another post perhaps. People’s pursuit of wealth and money can lead them to make choices or take actions that appear to be without integrity, or motivated by greed. I would argue that want is not the same thing as greed.
Is there anything wrong with wanting to make money? Of course not. The world has an abundance of resources, people, and ideas…and when teamed together, there certainly is an abundance of opportunity to make money. Some spiritual teachers renounce all worldly possessions and choose to live in poverty, to be closer to the people they wish to counsel, like Mother Teresa or Ghandi. These souls were absolute in their beliefs and devoted, caring human beings. True gifts to this world, without a doubt. However, we don’t need to denounce money to be spiritual.
The more money you have, the easier it can be to share that wealth, with those who truly need it. Look to Bill and Melinda Gates if you want to see this principle in action. They give millions of dollars each year to help impoverished people all over the world, focusing primarily on the people of Africa.
Pursuing Money and Spirituality are Not Mutually Exclusive
Money is just money. It holds no personality, it’s a system we assign a value to. It’s not right or wrong. And wanting to make money is not the same thing as greed. I think we can agree that greed carries a negative connotation, it implies that one would take measures that lack integrity in order to make and have money. In that instance, money probably signifies power, and it’s the power the seeker is after.
I’ll be honest. I want money because I want to go on vacation, I want to share money with my family, and I want to donate to the many worthwhile charities I’m affiliated with. I want money. I won’t do anything that lacks integrity to get it, but I certainly want it.
So I focus on earning money, and I take the actions necessary to manifest money into my life. I apply the law of attraction, focus, and team it with my emotions…and I consider myself to be a spiritual person. I truly believe you can desire money, and pursue spiritual interest. The two are not mutually exclusive.

Which is “THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL” This puts a completely different spin on money.
Money is the tool to get he things we want.Love it to much it will eat you up.
Make money the goal you won’t get any.You will find all sorts of things creep in between to hinder the flow of money.
Money expands and enhances what a man already is. If he is evil, then he will be more evil and if he is a generous person, then he would even give out more.
The love of money is the roof of evil.
I have always had guilty feelings about wanting money. I wish I didn’t. I know I still do, Would hypnotherapy help? If so, would you recommend someone in the Detroit, MI area. I would happily go. Thanks
