When you were little, a child, did you ever pay attention to your shadow? Just watch it as you walked along? Maybe you tried to chase it or trick it? Now that you’re older, how long has it been since you looked at your shadow?
Moving toward Light
At times you are probably aware of your shadow, maybe in your subconscious. Like when you sit down to read, and the light generates a shadow of your head or your book. So maybe you reposition yourself to move out of shadow and into the light. We are programmed to want to move into the light and out of the darkness.
To fully observe your shadow, you’ve got to turn your back to the light. If you think about the shadow in your life, perhaps health issues, family problems, money issues or similar things, how do you feel? The shadows become more pronounced when you turn your back on the source of light in your life.
That light of Creative Intelligence is moving in and through your affairs all day, every day – a light that can guide you to health, happiness, and fulfillment. If you make it a habit to turn your back on the light, you’ll focus on the shadows in your life. The unpleasant things, the things that live in darkness.
Focus on What IS Working
There are books and personal development programs out there that encourage us to heal our lives by focusing on the shadow. When you delve into the darkness, you bring light to it, and heal what needs healing. The danger is in focusing our attention on what’s not working in our lives. In order to manifest health, joy, financial and spiritual abundance, our focus should be on creating and celebrating those things. Shadow exists as a contrast to light. If we can train ourselves to turn towards the light, the shadows won’t hold fear or anxiety.

For me, it’s important that I focus primarily on what moves me, excites me, or delights me the most, and to follow the direction created by this focus. Circumstances don’t matter; only my state of being does; believing is seeing … (not the other way around). When circumstances pull me off-centre, it’s important for me to ask, quite simply: what state of being do I prefer to be? Clarity? Equanimity? Serenity? Excitment? Ecstasy?
Focus on what you want. Notice and acknowledge what you don’t want, but concentrate on whatever it is that makes you blissfull..
