If you could change anything about your life, what would it be? Would you want to have more money? More fulfilling relationships? A deeper spiritual connection? Imagine your life as you wish it to be. If you want your life to look different than it does today, commit time each day to be fully present.
Train Yourself to Live in This Moment
Time is a constant. Each day we get 24 hours, nothing more. So in those 24 hours what things do you have to accomplish? How much time do you spend consciously creating? How many things do you do in your life while you’re on autopilot?
Sometimes we have so many obligations that as soon as our day begins we slip into automatic mode and just “get it done.” Unfortunately, when we are in this mode, it’s almost like we are hypnotized. We can’t create consciously in this state.
If you want to change things, train yourself to be present. When I wake up in the morning, I work on being truly present in my body, grounding myself if you will, so I don’t allow the commitments of the day to take over. I quiet my mind and focus on my breathing, and on being in my body. As I prepare for my day I consciously focus on the moment I am in, the task I’m doing, no matter how routine. Something as simple as brushing my teeth, and I’m focused on each brush stroke. I know that once I leave the house, I’ll have energy coming at me from every direction and my tasks and obligations will jump into my conscious mind and I’ll be on the treadmill for the day, juggling everything I have to do against the clock.
You Can’t Change What Was, Only Appreciate What Is
If I spend my day running down all the things I have to accomplish I end up feeling tired, in a low energy vibration, and generally stressed out. It doesn’t serve my purpose to spend my time stressed out, anxious, worried about things I cannot change. Living in the moment I am in allows me to let go of those stresses and simply be. I have an easier time feeling gratitude, focusing on the perfection of the moment I am in.

Very very true. I believe that this one concept of ”being in the moment” holds the key to all that is and all that will be.

Being in the moment is the most wonderful bliss that can be. All yoga, meditation techniques are aimed at that one mantra… ‘BEING IN THE NOW.’
I’m so confused after reading this script on the net, it seems to me that I have waisted all my not creating anything but rather consuming the already existed things. I wish to use my God given gifts in writing pieces of motivational and influential messages so that other could also benefit from me .Kindly assist me in achieving this object of mine.
Mindfulness, being in the present moment, is indeed wonderful when we can make it happen, even for a short time. As Dr. Anthony has always said, everything happens in the “now”! When the mind is occupied with the present moment, there is no opportunity to look backward with regret, etc., or to look forward with apprehension - it’s a great sanity break for one’s mind, to just be in the moment…more easily said than done, of course! Yes, we always live in the present moment. I remember reading Eckhart Tolle’s book about this several years ago and being very much affected by it.
Deep question. I say money is needed for sure. But, the spiritual connection gives you inner peace . Then you can cope with things as they arise. This h as a lot to do with mental perceptions . And, yes being grateful for what you have and not what you don’t have. As humans, we will tend to reflect on things and have to redirect our focus. If we can figure out what we want overall. Like me I want LOVE. Love of money, relationships, career, everything. I am trying to be a mindset of Love with everything. Accent the positive and relent the negativeand LOVE, LOVE< LOVE. It isn’t easy but it is my goal.
Correction: Not love of money but love of what I can do with the money. Love of money is evil. I want to blessed so I can be a blessing to others.
Oh my goodness, I want to thank you Robert Anthony and all of your peers for helping me get through very difficult times in my life. “Letting go of the past”. Everyday I wake up looking forward to being still to focus on my body, my breathing, my surroundings, my son getting ready for school, just living in the moment. Being still has opened up my awareness words cannot explain. Negative or unpleasant circumstances in my life does not bother me anymore like it did in my past. I really feel like Im floating in the air watching my life manifest for the things i asked for in my life. Im so excited !!! Thank you so much to help me with my awakening!!!
Yes what you say in this post is true yet it is more accurate to say, “Be Aware” or ” Be as Awareness” rather than say, “Train yourself to live in the moment…
The difference is highly significant because ‘Training yourself to live in the moment’ requires an extra step and an entity as a ‘you’ who is ‘living’ in the moment whereas Awareness is not an entity, it is always available, and Awareness is Not Timebound.
I’ve been involved with yoga for some 35 years and like a lot of folks I say ’shorthand’ things like ‘Breathing anchors you in the Now!’ and while this helps it is simply more accurate to understand and say that it is the AWARENESS of Breathing that does the anchoring and that Now is TIMELESS.
In short the understanding is such that emphasis is placed on Awareness and ‘Awareness of Awareness’ as the heart of being rather than the step removed from this as a ‘you’ or a ‘me’ who is being aware. In other words You Are Awareness - it acts!

Dr A, this has been so very very true of existence. We are past dwellers and focus too heavily on negative thought patterns. I have fallen victim of the diseased mindset. I feel i have made others wealthy instead of being my true grateful positive self. I find your strategy very inspirational and so very basic in itself. I believe we fall into the conditioning trap. For way too long we allow the maze of self improvement techniques to believe we need external help as there has to be a better life which includes fast cars, expensive houses, more money to get a better quality of life. We do need to look from the inside out and accept what we have and look at life differently. When we have attained that we can be more grateful and positive and realise there is no need for self improvement. To be at one with ourselves says it all for me and i am ready to live in the present. Thank you so much for helping so many people. You are such a wonderful human being.
It takes a little practice to develop this . But definitely , this is the best state of mind to be. Nothing that we reaaly want , can be achieved without these.

We get lost in time when we loose focus in the present. Time is a thought bound illusion which never truly exist. In modern self help/ development program, they have the time management tool which we could use to keep track of what we are doing all day long. This is crucial in achiving target or goal but yet, philosphically, each and every thought that penerates the mind could get one trapped in time. The tool only guide us on the track, self awareness and consciusness that makes us stay on the right path.
The concept about Time,Actually there is no Past, Present or Future. Time is continuos.Our Nature is Living in Present Moment, And who So ever knows how to live in Present moment is a Blessed Individual. When the person is remain connected with The source, The God, Or The Universal Life Enery Force then he will Enjoy, all the Exellant things inLife,wheather it is Happiness, Abundance,or Wealth, Good Health, Prosperity. One can explore everything ,He or She desires. Meditation is a way by which one can get connection with The Supreme. Hold The Roots You will have everything in Life what you Desire.Condition is Only one Live in Now, The present Moment.

This sounds good but it seems to me that I used to be this way and not much ever happened so I figured that I was thinking to much on the present moment and thus started trying to figure out what was or is wrong with me, why was I not greedy, jealous, agressive, etc. I realy don’t see how you say there is nothing wrong with anyone, I think there is something wrong with all of us. I also believe that life is a total illusion and we will always exsist, there for I can make no sence of why all I think about these days is the relief of dieing. I don’t think I want anything because it just brings conflict along with it an besides that it is always taken or lost or just plain dies on ya so whats the point?
